Ah this was the old High street area. See the Hill Street fire station in the background. Metro has its first store here, so did many other home grown fashion stores. It was the place to be to get the latest in fashion gear way back in the 60s.

Remember this very familiar building. Hardly did any shopping here as prices were deemed as higher and also patronised mainly by ang mohs. More comfortable with shopping around High Street and Chinatown areas.

How's this for the best food in town. Nothing fancy no ambience but die die must try. Can always remember the old Orchard Road Car Park Hawker Centre. Every night, this long queue of hawker push trolleys forms beside the old CK Tang building, and at the given signal, push their way across busy Orchard Road, transforming the carpark into a fine dining experience. No wine, no italian or french cuisine.

Now this one is of the Outram Park flats, built soon after the Bukit Ho Swee fire and the government's intial trust into affordable housing for the people. I remember exhibitions held here to broadcast the HDB's five year building program, and also one on the rites and rituals of the gangster world. Can you remember the Chancellor department store and the then very exquisite Sylvia Koh bridal saloon. These flats have been demolished and is now an empty piece of land .

Doesn't this look familiar. The old bus stop with the Tay Koh Yat or was it Hock Lee Bus pulling up for passengers. Remember the old ticket system? The conductor guy pushes his way through the bus crowd to collect your money and punch you a ticket. Sometimes when our destination is pretty near we can get away with a free ride before he gets to us for our money. Heh heh
